    Nee, Paul, je hebt er nix van begrepen. We zijn gewoon verzot op water, maar de smaak staat ons niet zo aan. Daarom geven we de voorkeur aan de toevoeging van bepaalde smaakstoffen. Vergelijkbaar met : het zout in de pap, suiker in het citroentje, oregano op de souvlaki, etc. etc.

    Met wijn is het nog erger: 12,5 % alcohol betekent maar liefst 87,5 % water !! Om over pils maar te zwijgen.

    Correctie: Metaxa = 38% alcohol, dus niet minder dan 62 % water. Geia mas.

    Sorry to interrupt your interesting conversation, but are you talking about weight percentages or volume percentages? Because if you're talking about volume percentages, the amount of water in any alcoholic drink is even higher than you ever suspected. The concentration of volatile matter in any alcoholic substance can never be a full 100 pct. So it would seem to me that indeed you are more addicted to water than to alcohol.

    I must apologize for not being able to express myself in understandable Dutch. I can read it and understand it, but I am afraid I will never be able to speak or write it. Carry on with your most amusable discussions, I am having a great time reading them.
